WAYNESVILLE, Mo. (May 3, 2010) — The Waynesville baseball team scored a rare win Monday afternoon by defeating the league’s second-worst team, St. James, which has only four wins compared to two wins for Waynesville.

The game at St. James ended with a score of 10 to 2 in favor of Waynesville.

Matt Cassels was the lead hitter with three hits and four RBIs, but Patrick Holt, David Faulkner, Xavier McClain, and Romeo Florez each had hits. In the first and second innings, Waynesville scored 8 out of their 10 runs and added only one more in the fourth, and seventh innings.

St. James put up two runs in the fourth and nothing else.

The win was due in large measure to the pitching of James Holler, who gave up only two runs and had 8 strikeouts.
