SAINT ROBERT, Mo. (April 28, 2010 UPDATED 1 p.m.) — UPDATE: St. Robert city officials have announced that the electrical work planned for completion by 2 p.m. ended early and all power was restored by 10 a.m. In less than an hour, St. Robert electric linemen will shut off the power to a group of businesses and homes on the far west end of the city near First State Bank.

According to a press release issued Monday afternoon, the outage is needed to replace a broken utility pole damaged during a single-vehicle accident. Beginning about 7:30 a.m. and running until about 2 p.m., First State Bank and all homes on Peggy Avenue, Jeffery Avenue, Debra Avenue, Vaughan Avenue, Vaughan Court, Opal Circle, Williamsburg Avenue, and Charleston Way will have no electricity.

The work will be conducted on Peggy Avenue but the street will not be closed; during the pole replacement, vehicles will be allowed to pass with some minor delays, according to city officials.

“If you must drive on Peggy Ave during this work, please watch for warning signs, flagmen, workers and slow moving equipment,” according to city officials. “Those residents who require medical equipment which operates on electricity should consider making other arrangements.”
