SR City Administrator Norman Herren retires
ST. ROBERT, Mo. (Feb. 3, 2009) — City Administrator Norman Herren has announced plans to retire from the city of St. Robert, effective at the end of February.

City administration was a second career for Herren, an Arkansas native who spent most of his adult life teaching in the Missouri public school system. Herren retired as the superintendent of the Dixon R-I School District — Pulaski County’s second largest district — after 32 years in education, and then served eight years in St. Robert city government, first working as the assistant city administrator and then as city administrator after the retirement of long-time City Administrator Jack Fincher.

“Due to some recent health scares, I have decided that it is time for me to be put out to pasture (literally),” Herren wrote in a prepared statement. “I have a small farm with cattle that will keep me busy, along with six grandchildren and a very loving family.”

Herren spent most of his teaching career as an industrial technology instructor before he entered school administration work. He continued to live in the Dixon area after retirement from the Dixon schools and has family in the area.

No plans were immediately announced for a job search or a successor. Herren wasn’t immediately available for comment due to visiting a local official who had recently been seriously ill.
