No tolerance for zero tolerance (and other laws I’d like to see)

Tolerance is the mother who softens the harshness of father’s strict adherence to the rules. Since nobody’s perfect, lawmakers and judges should guard against legal surprises never anticipated by lawmakers. This isn’t rewriting the decrees but interpretation in the highest sense of the word so the law can accomplish its original intent.

Below are some suggestions for lawmakers and judges to bring about a more just country:

1. Intolerance: Justice should be based on each case and circumstance involving current law and precedent. The idiotic case of six-year-old Zachary Christie is akin to the type of lack of foresight that has parents throughout the land scratching their heads. Zachary had NO CLUE he was committing a crime with a nonflexible sentence of 45 days in a reform school. His crime? As a proud new Cub Scout, he brought a multifaceted eating and tool utensil to his school to show his little friends. Conclusion? When you’re out of school, it’s much easier to make ridiculous rules you would have never tolerated or obeyed when YOU were young and vulnerable.

2. Tort reform: I’m not just talking medical malpractice reform, but the farce members of the legal profession have played out for the last century by lining their pockets with phony and fraudulent lawsuits should outrage everyone. Lawyers who knowingly represent frauds should be punished, fined, suspended and disbarred for continued abuse. Literally trillions of dollars could be saved from bankrupted businesses, prices passed on to consumers, increased insurance policies, unemployment costs and defensive overkill. Also, real cases could be heard in a timely manner without the rubbish that currently clogs the system.

3. Political Term limits: Give ‘em five terms in the House and two terms in the Senate. Then elect someone else. Professional politicians are a bane to the system and the original intent of our founders. The longer they’re in D.C., the more regal they regard themselves. Recently, town halls were filled with disrespected citizens by these uncivil servants.

4. Pork: Spending attached to other bills accounts for billions of dollars in deceptive theft in the system. If you want federal tax spending for a state project, it must pass on its own merits.

5. Judge term limits: No judge, unless elected, should be on the bench longer than ten years. A lifetime is too long. As people age they get dementia, Alzheimer’s, and big egos.

6. Hate crimes: Get rid of them. A crime is a crime. Hate crimes beg to kill the First Amendment. It’s thought and speech control.

7. Political Lie limits: Each politician would be allowed 10 per elected term. Those passing the 10 lie limit will be subject to special election.

8. Transparency: So many promises on this subject that, concurrent to Law #7 becoming retroactive, Obama would have been up for re-election in his first two months in office. No closed door meetings, bills on the Net five days before voting and all negotiations done on C-Span, including Republicans, were promised. Hmmmm. That sounds familiar. Where did I hear that, Mr. President? Everyone in key spots in government, including “czars,” must go through a rigorous vetting process before Congress.

9. Congressional De-Royalty Act: Make Congress subject to the same laws they pass on to us, including health care. Congressmen must pay their federal income tax. If they haven’t paid or come to some accommodation, they can’t run or serve.

10. Redistribution of Capitalism Act: Cut the bogus theft of working people and entrepreneurs and get Americans back to work. This is especially important for minorities, many of whom are now led to believe their goal in life is to live off other taxpayers.

11. The Lead no Child to Indoctrination Act: Songs, plays, poems, essays in school naming any politician, or any policy except as described in the Constitution, is prohibited. Can you imagine if kids were forced to sing songs in praise of Dubya and/or his policies?

12. No government takeover of private business: Wait. That’s already IN the Constitution!

13. Anti-Genocide Against Seniors Act: Guess they’re gonna have to start over on health care. They were counting on Granny and Gramps to forego treatment and jump in their graves.

Little Zachary, and all other children of every color and wealth, should grow up to be whatever they desire, as long as they’re willing to work and sacrifice.

No one should rely on other taxpayers for their living.

The tolerance laid out in our Constitutional rights provides for our recovery if we can just get big ugly government out of our way.
