2009-06-12 MoDOT road construction

Missouri Department of Transportation personnel have issued several road work alerts for the Fort Leonard Wood area. As with all road construction projects, MoDOT officials urge drivers to exercise caution while passing through the work zones. Workers may be on or near the roadway. Signs will be posted and flagmen will be present in areas where traffic will be impacted. Maries County Route 28:
Roadway resurfacing will continue through early summer 2009 during daylight hours on Route 28 between Route 63 and the Pulaski County line. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Pulaski County Route 28:
• MoDOT personnel announced on May 15 that construction crews will be working on a project on Route 28 in Pulaski County from the intersection of Interstate 44 to Route C within the Dixon city limits, beginning Monday, May 18, that was originally expected to end on June 2 and is now expected to end on July 2.
• MoDOT crews will be pull paving, which restores a smooth ride, with current work beginning on June 15 and expected to end July 2. Weather permitting, crews and equipment will be on the roadway between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. While performing this function, crews and equipment are located directly on the roadway.
• MoDOT crews will perform drainage work from the intersection of Old Route Y to the Dixon city limits to keep the roadway dry and maintain stability and proper drainage of water from the travel lanes. While performing this function, crews and equipment are located directly on or near the roadway.

Pulaski County Route 17:
MoDOT personnel announced on May 15 that construction crews will be working on a project on Route 17 in Pulaski County on the bridge located over the Gasconade River beginning Monday, May 18, and are expected to end on June 15. Weather permitting, crews and equipment will be on the roadway between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Pulaski County Route Z:
MoDOT crews will do bridge maintenance on the Route Z bridge located over the Big Piney River to improve the section where the road and bridge meet and prevent deterioration of the bridge deck or structure. Work will begin on June 12 and is expected to end June 15. Weather permitting, crews and equipment will be on the roadway between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Pulaski County Route DD:
MoDOT crews will be patching the roadway, which restores shape and stability, on Route DD from the intersection of Route 17 to the end of state maintenance. Work will begin on June 15 and is expected to end June 18. Weather permitting, crews and equipment will be on the roadway between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. While performing this function, crews and equipment are located directly on the roadway.

Pulaski County various routes:
MoDOT crews will perform vegetation control on the right-of-way, which improves sight distance.

Phelps County Routes P and AA:
MoDOT crews will be patching the roadway, which restores rideability of the roadway surface, on Route P near the East Gate of Fort Leonard Wood from the intersection of Route J to Route T and from the intersection of Route P to County Road 7550. Work will begin on June 15 and is expected to end June 18. Weather permitting, crews and equipment will be on the roadway between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. While performing this function, crews and equipment are located directly on the roadway.

Phelps County Route K:
Contractor crews will do bridge maintenance work including bridge rehabilitation and deck replacement work on Route K over Spring Creek east of Beulah and Big Piney southeast of Fort Leonard Wood to improve the section where the road and bridge meet and prevent deterioration of the bridge deck or structure.

Texas County Route 32:
MoDOT crews will do bridge maintenance on the Route 32 bridge located over Doolittle Creek and over Roubidoux Creek near Plato to improve the section where the road and bridge meet and prevent deterioration of the bridge deck or structure. Work will begin on June 15 and is expected to end June 18. Weather permitting, crews and equipment will be on the roadway between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Texas County various routes:
MoDOT crews will perform vegetation control on the right-of-way, which improves sight distance.

Mapping work zones near Pulaski County:
Missouri Department of Transportation personnel have added a new feature to their online traveler information map: not only can readers find current work zones, incidents, and closures due to flooding and winter road conditions, they can also get information on future work zones involving roadwork scheduled within the next seven days. Blue icons designate the future work zones scheduled to start in the next week. Red, yellow and orange icons will still be used to represent work zones with road closures and the level of traffic impact as work zones become active. The legend to the left allows users to customize their view by clicking the items they would like to view. Most Missouri work zones are weather dependant and may be rescheduled as needed. Travelers should check the map before their trip to find the active work zones and the impact to traffic.
