ENFORCE engineer conference coming next week to Fort Leonard Wood
FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. (April 14, 2009) — The U.S. Army Engineer School will host the annual Engineer Force Conference (ENFORCE) at Fort Leonard Wood from April 19 to 24.

ENFORCE is a senior leader training conference for the U.S. Army Engineer Regiment. This year's ENFORCE is titled "Building Great Engineers 2."

"Building Great Engineers" is a regiment-wide effort to recruit, qualify and employ engineer soldiers to meet the changing dynamics of the current world situation, said Lt. Col. Timothy O'Brien, assistant ENFORCE action officer for the U.S. Army Engineer School.

"Activities include information briefs, panel discussions, regimental updates, interface with the civilian engineer community, and events that reinforce camaraderie and fellowship," O'Brien said.

Several topics will be addressed this year by teams of senior leaders who will then present their finding to the U.S. Army Chief of Engineers, Lt. Gen. Robert Van Antwerp, at the conclusion of ENFORCE.

ENFORCE will feature industry displays consisting of static presentations by more than 100 companies presenting the latest in military engineering technology ranging from construction to IED-defeat equipment to combat engineering systems. The displays are open to the public at Nutter Field House on April 20 from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and April 21 from 7 a.m. to noon.

Jeff Burton, NASCAR driver, will also be present with his No. 31 Caterpillar Car at Nutter Field House on April 20 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., which is open to the public.

The Best Sapper Competition Awards/Memorial Service is a combination of two significant events for the U.S. Army Engineer Regiment. The Best Sapper awards ceremony will honor the winners of the Best Sapper Competition teams, which will compete at Fort Leonard Wood April 20-22. Immediately following the presentation of these awards, the U.S. Army Engineer Regiment will honor the 30 fallen engineer soldiers of the past year in a sacred ceremony. This combined event, which is open to the public, will be held at Abrams Theater, April 22 from 6 to 8 p.m.
