Keeping in Touch with Tourism: County is good for conferences
Keeping in Touch with Tourism: County is good for conferences

Tourism Director Beth Wiles
Pulaski County hosted the Missouri RV Parks and Campground Association this past month. This was a three day state conference featuring a vendor area and seminars. Approximately 50 individuals from across the state, as well as vendors from as far away as Florida, attended this conference.

If you belong to an association or organization that might benefit holding their conference or educational seminars in our centralized location of the state, please let us know. We would be happy to assist them in bringing their event to Pulaski County. Our staff assists with room, restaurant, catering, entertainment and meeting space bids, as well as welcome packets. Encouraging groups to meet in Pulaski County helps our communities grow through tax dollar revenues received from these visiting groups. It also familiarizes them with all that we have to offer.

During the month of April, we will also be attending a Group Tour Operator (GLAMER) Marketplace in St. Louis and a military reunion marketplace (TRN) in Branson. On April 14, the staff will be attending a Group Tour Summit in Jefferson City. This is an educational seminar conducted by the Missouri Travel Council. If you are interested in the motor coach market and would like additional information about this educational opportunity, please visit the www.missouritravel.com website. The Missouri Travel Council is an excellent association to belong to for those in the hospitality/tourism industry.

Kris is working on gathering updated brochures and take-out menus for the annual update of the Guest Resource Guide. This is a book, distributed to area lodging partners, that is placed in the hotel lobbies for visitors to flip through and read about area attractions, restaurants and shopping. If you would like to be included in the book, please bring approximately 50 brochures, no later than April 15, to the Visitors Center. They will be placed in the binder with the extras being distributed at the Center. This is a complimentary service we provide to our tourism partners and visitors.

Don’t forget, if you have an event planned, please contact Mitzi at mitzis@visitpulaskicounty.org. Mitzi will add your event, meeting or fundraiser to our county calendar which is at www.visitpulaskicounty.org/calendar.

The trees and flowers are starting to bloom and spring is finally here! Why not stop by the Visitors Center and get a free copy of the Pulaski County Driving Tour brochure? This brochure features tours of Route 66, the Frisco Railroad and history of Fort Leonard Wood. We have also received many new brochures on attractions across the state. Hope to you see soon!
