Dixon Girl Wins Title of Holiday Princess at the Phelps County Fair Holiday Pageant

ROLLA, Mo. (Nov. 8, 2008) — This year’s theme for the Phelps County Fair Holiday Pageant was Rock ‘n Roll Christmas. The pageant was held at the Community Christian Church at 10 am Saturday, November 08, 2008. Sponsors for this event include America’s Fabulous Faces, Bobby’s Photography, Community Christian Church, Phelps County Fair Board, Sonic Sound, Splash Designs, Rolla Area Chamber of Commerce, and Uptown Bridal & Florist. 

The director of the event Tina Malchert started the pageant by introducing the three judges Mae Ferguson, Darsi Hammack, and Rodney Hammack. The judges had the tough job of awarding pageant titles for six different age groups. Among these groups, girls and boys competed in dance, talent, interview/speech, and formal dress contests. Tina Malchert received assistance with this event by Amanda Craft, Shawna Cochran, Loren Goolsby, and Steffanee Malchert. 

The 2007 Phelps County Fair Royalty consisted of Rebekah Maddox Fair Queen, Angelica Otero Fair Princess, Elizabeth Schneider Jr. Fair Princess, and Madison Hansen Little Holiday Princess. They started the day’s pageant with a group dance to the song Heartbreaker.

The first winners announced for this event were for the Little Miss Holiday title. The current Little Miss Holiday Jace Myers assisted in presenting the following awards. Fifth runner up went to Autumn Johnson, fourth runner up Katlyn Fuwell, third runner up Moraeah Arthur, second runner up Victoria Wilson, first runner up Haley Jones, and the 2008 Little Miss Holiday Jessica Keeney. Among the contestants for Little Mr. Holliday were Erich Baur, Zachery Fuwell, and Jarrett Keeney. These adorable little guys did a great job in this category. Second runner up went to Zachery Fuwell, first runner up went to Jerritt Keeney, and the title of Mr. Holiday was awarded to Erich Baur.

The Little Holiday Princess contestants performed a group dance to the song Here Come Santa Claus. Marissa McCall the reigning Little Fair Princess presented the following awards in this category. Second runner up went to Alexis Fuwell, First runner up went to Brittany Humphrey, and Alyssa Gunter was awarded the title of Little Holiday Princess.

The Jr. Holiday Princess contestants performed their group dance to the song Rock ‘n Roll Christmas. The participants in this category were Christina Gruber, Rebecca Gruber, Courtney McClendon, and Allie Huffman. Megan Studdard the current 2007 Jr. Holiday Princess awarded Allie Huffman the 2008 Jr. Holiday Princess title. 

The Holiday Princess contestants performed their group dance to the song Rocking Around the Christmas Tree. Two of the contestants in this category are from Dixon. The winners were sixth runner up Becca Hales, fifth runner up Leah Ornelas, fourth runner up Jerica Durham from Dixon, third runner up Emily Davis, second runner up Kailyn McCall, first runner up Lacey Becerra, and the title of 2008 Holiday Princess went to Samara Reed, also from Dixon. 

The contestants for Holiday Queen had performed their dance routine to the song The Little Drummer Boy. The event came to an end by Shyla Crall the reigning Holiday Queen awarding Stephanie Rostad from Waynesville the title of runner up, and Talon Cochran the title of 2008 Holiday Queen.
