WASHINGTON, D.C. (Dec. 12, 2011) — U.S. Sen. Roy Blunt issued the following statement today applauding the $20 million TIGER III grant awarded<http://grants.ost.dot.gov/public/ViewMessage.cfm?MsgID=8ea02qzpl8>; by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) to the CityArchRiver 2015 initiative:

“As we prepare to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial and Gateway Arch in 2015, I’m very pleased that DOT awarded this grant to the CityArchRiver 2015 initiative, which is truly a public-private partnership of national significance.

“This grant will help fund infrastructure projects that will facilitate more visitors and greater access to the Gateway Arch Grounds, which is critically important as we work to spur economic opportunity and attract new visitors each year.”

The CityArchRiver 2015 initiative was formed to launch a worldwide design competition to expand and improve the Gateway Arch Grounds in St. Louis, Mo. U.S. Sen. Roy Blunt serves as a member of the Senate Committee on Appropriations as well as the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation. He currently serves as Ranking Member of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies and also serves as co-chair of the Missouri River Working Group along with U.S. Senators Claire McCaskill of Missouri and John Hoeven and Kent Conrad of North Dakota.
