Rep. Day receives committee assignments

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (Jan. 16, 2009)  State Rep. David Day (R-Dixon) received his committee assignments for the 1st Regular Session of the 95th General Assembly this week. Speaker Ron Richard (R-Joplin) made the announcement of committee appointments earlier this week. Assignments received by Day are the chairmanship of the Committee on Veterans, vice-chairmanship of the Committee on State Parks and Waterways, and membership on the Special Committee on Professional Registration and Licensing as well as membership on the Special Committee on General Laws.

This is Day’s second time to be appointed as chairman of the Veterans Committee and as vice-chairman of the Committee on State Parks & Waterways.

“I am very grateful for the assignments Speaker Richard has given me,” Day said. “Of course I am excited to continue the work that we have begun for Veterans but I am also ready to get to work on the new assignments I have received as a member of Professional Registration and General Laws.”

The Special Committee on Professional Registration and Licensing considers legislation relating to the regulation of professions and occupations that are registered or licensed in the State of Missouri along with the boards and commissions that oversee those occupations. The committee also considers matters relating to consumer protection.

The Special Committee on General Laws considers any legislation which the Speaker feels merits special consideration or bills that do not relate to any other general category. Often some of the most difficult legislation is considered by this committee.

“It’s an honor to be appointed to these committees and I am grateful to Speaker Richard for the trust he has shown in me with these appointments,” Day said.
