Dixon loses 5-7 to Conway, eliminating last local team in Iberia Tournament
DIXON, Mo. (May 19, 2010) — A 5 to 7 Wednesday afternoon loss by the Dixon Bulldogs varsity baseball team to top-ranked Conway eliminated the last local team in the second round of the Iberia tournament.

In the exciting match between Dixon and Conway, the top two players were Tyler Perryman for Conway and Dustin Doyle for Dixon. The first inning had most of the scoring of the game. Dixon had back-to-back homeruns, one of them a two-run homer from Dustin Doyle and Jacob Beltoni had the second homer.

Dylon Brawley was the starting pitcher for Conway. He was almost pulled out of the game, but luckily for Conway, he would gain control of the game. In the bottom of the first, Perryman had a two-run double to make the game 3 to 2. A series of errors at third and home allowed Conway three more runs making the score 5 to 3.

The score would remain that way until the third inning. Dixon starter Dakota Emmons struggled in the first inning but he also gave up one run in the third and fourth innings. Conway starter Dylon Brawley allowed no runs between the second and fourth innings.

Dixon removed Dakota Emmons in the fourth inning and put Doyle in the game. In the fifth inning, the game looked hopeful for Dixon as the Bulldogs scored two runs to get the score up to 5 to 7. Doyle allowed no Conway runs in the fifth or sixth innings, keeping the game close, but Dixon couldn’t capitalize on Doyle’s pitching and scored no runs in the sixth or seventh innings.
