Firefighters work to extinguish a blaze at Shannon Valley Apartments
WAYNESVILLE, Mo. (March 25, 2010) — Firefighters from throughout the area responded shortly after midnight Thursday to a report of a fully-involved structure fire at Shannon Valley Apartments in Waynesville.

Upon arrival, firefighters received a report of multiple people trapped inside one of the apartments in a multi-unit building. It’s not known whether firefighters were able to rescue those trapped in the building; firefighters shouted repeatedly, “Is anyone in there” while identifying people at windows calling for help.

Personnel at the scene later reported that all residents of the burned apartment have been accounted for. Information on any injuries was not immediately available.

Units from Waynesville, St. Robert, Fort Leonard Wood, Tri-County in Richland, and other departments were present on the scene; additional backup was requested from Lebanon after Waynesville firefighters called for a second alarm.

Pulaski County Ambulance District personnel, Waynesville police, and state troopers are on the scene as well.
