WAYNESVILLE, Mo. (Feb. 1, 2010) — After a weekend of melting which cleared most paved roads but turned some outlying gravel roads to ice, Waynesville R-VI School District officials have decided to hold classes Monday but send buses on snow routes only for both morning and afternoon student pickups.

As of 4 a.m., Fort Leonard Wood officials reported no crashes on post and no delayed reporting has been announced.
A liberal leave policy had been in effect for most of the weekend on Fort Leonard Wood, which was open Friday but allowed personnel to leave by 3 p.m. that day. Road conditions on post had been red — which means “difficult or no stopping conditions” at most intersections with black ice, sheeting, and otherwise dangerous conditions — for much of the weekend, but have now been upgraded to “green” conditions on most of the post. A few parts of Fort Leonard Wood such as the cantonment training areas, secondary range roads, ranges and training areas are still in “amber” condition, which means “difficult to hazardous” with drivers urged to slow to 10 mph below posted speeds, but the main and secondary housing and cantonment roads are all in “green” condition.
According to National Weather Service officials, weather conditions today in the Fort Leonard Wood area present a 20 percent chance of rain or drizzle after noon with some areas of freezing fog before 10 a.m. The sky will be ,ostly cloudy, with a high temperature near 38 degrees but wind chill values as low as 17 due to a south wind between 6 and 8 mph. Conditions will deteriorate tonight with a chance of snow and freezing drizzle and a low temperature around 25 degrees, a south wind around 6 mph becoming west, and a 30 percent chance of precipitation.
