Skelton says he’s disappointed by spring rise plan for Missouri River

Congressman Ike Skelton
WASHINGTON, D.C. (May 18, 2009) — Congressman Ike Skelton (D-Mo.) released the following statement in response to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ decision to implement a spring rise on the Missouri River.

“I am disappointed to learn that the Corps of Engineers intends to implement a spring rise on the Missouri River. I continue to believe that the spring rise policy is bad for Missouri, with potentially devastating impacts for farmers who work along the river,” said Skelton.

Congressman Ike Skelton (D-Mo.) serves as Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee. Congressman Skelton’s website is at http://www.house.gov/skelton.
