Two Saint Robert wrecks damage five vehicles Friday afternoon, evening
SAINT ROBERT, Mo. (Nov. 20, 2009) — Two separate crashes on Friday in and near St. Robert wrecked multiple cars, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol and St. Robert Police Department reports.

Emergency personnel responded to a 2:40 p.m. wreck on Texas Road about a fifth of a mile outside the St. Robert city limits where they found two St. Robert teenagers had totaled their 2000 Ford after running off the left side of the roadway as they were rounding a curve on their way southbound out of St. Robert and then struck several trees.

Firefighters reported that the crash had knocked down at least one of the trees and caused a road blockage.

According to the state patrol report, Leigh D. Dean, 18, had been driving but had not been wearing his seat belt. His passenger, Matlin A. Dean, 13, had been wearing his seat belt. The driver suffered minor injuries and was transported by Pulaski County Ambulance District personnel to Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla for treatment; the passenger suffered moderate injuries and was transported to General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital by the same ambulance service.

Poor Boys’ Towing removed the vehicle.

A few hours later, St. Robert police and firefighters responded to a four-vehicle crash on the northbound lanes of Missouri Avenue about a fifth of a mile north of Bosa Drive near CarStar Motors.

According to a media report prepared by Sgt. Butch Hohman, another St. Robert officer, Cpl. Bryan Murphy, determined that that crash happened at 5:14 p.m. and involved a 1999 Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by Cindy M. Griffin, 28, of Crocker, a 2007 Ford F-150 pickup driven by David P. Lutman, 43, of St. Robert, a 2000 Toyota MR2 driven by Nancy C. Carlson, 57, of Waynesville, and a 1999 Mercury Sable driven by Daniel L. Lucas, 26, of Fort Leonard Wood.

“The accident occurred when the Lucas vehicle, the Carlson vehicle, and the Lutman vehicle were all stopped in traffic when the Griffin vehicle was in the process of changing lanes from the center lane to the far left lane and failed to see the stopped vehicles in enough time to stop, causing the Griffin vehicle to impact with the Lutman vehicle,” according to Murphy’s report.

That crash caused Lutman’s vehicle to hit Carlson’s vehicle, which then hit Lucas’ vehicle.

Lucas’ Mercury Sable and Carlson’s Toyota MR2 sustained minor damage; the pickups driven by Lutman and Griffin sustained moderate damage. All vehicles except Griffin’s pickup were drivable, but Griffin’s pickup was removed by Gene’s Towing of Crocker at the owner’s request.

While three of the drivers reported minor bumps and were checked at the scene by paramedics but released, a passenger, Ramona Lucas, 24, reported neck pain and was transported by Pulaski County Ambulance District personnel to General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital with undetermined injuries.

In an unrelated Thursday incident:

• State troopers in Phelps County arrested Warren T. Sergent, 33, of Dixon, at 10:51 a.m. Thursday on two separate misdemeanor warrants from Pulaski County, one for driving while intoxicated and the other for failure to follow a judge’s order to register a motor vehicle. Troopers transported him to the Phelps County Jail where he was eligible for bond.
