WAYNESVILLE, Mo. (Dec. 7, 2008) — We could not have asked for better weather for the 2008 Waynesville Lions Club Parade. Maybe a little cold but thankfully a couple of the downtown businesses opened today and they were serving coffee and hot chocolate to patrons. The streets were lined by people of all ages. Paul Corbett from the Waynesville Lions Club was the contact person for this event. Unfortunately, this year they did not have any judging, trophies, or prizes. This did not stop many of the local community bands, organizations, agencies, and business from joining in on this what turned out to be a very nice parade.

There were a lot of neat things to see. Some of the participants included the beautiful Christmas princesses, and queens from the surrounding areas, a lot of antique and sport cars. There were also several cartoon characters present to include Raggedy Ann, the Grinch, Shrek, and Fiona. The Pulaski County Fort Leonard Wood Shrine Club Motor Corp, the US Army, Freedom of the Road Riders Local 28, the 30th Masonic District, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and many more made their way downtown. Several churches as well as other community agencies also participated. A large group dressed in biblical attire walked the parade to help remind us of the true meaning of Christmas. Bands from Waynesville and Laquey Schools did a wonderful job on their Christmas music. The crowd also enjoyed the Waynesville Stompers when they stopped to show their stomping routine.

The fire trucks and police cars horns blared and sirens screamed as they passed by the crowd. It seemed the crowd enjoyed every single minute of it. Of course the most exciting part came when Santa and Mrs. Clause came through on their sleigh; they were waving and sending Christmas cheer to all.
