Pulaski County Circuit Court Report 7/23/2009
Officials with the Pulaski County Circuit Court have reported the following actions in recent cases: Darius J. Hadden, 18, of St. Robert, pleaded innocent on July 23 to a Class C felony charge of victim tampering accusing him of purposely preventing or dissuading the victim of a second-degree assault with which Hadden had been charged on April 4 from assisting in his prosecution. Associate Circuit Judge Colin Long scheduled the case for advice of counsel on July 28, ordered him to personally appear and set his bond at $50,000. Betty L. Maddox, 33, of an unreported residence, appeared with the public defender and waived a July 23 preliminary hearing on a Class C felony charge of stealing accusing her of taking at least $500 of U.S. currency from Cenex on July 7, 2004, without the owner’s consent. Judge Long bound the case over to circuit court for an Aug. 5 arraignment. Donald Mathers, 33, of Franklin, Ohio, appeared with his attorney, Wayne Gifford, and waived a July 23 preliminary hearing on a Class D felony charge of criminal nonsupport accusing him of failing to provide adequate financial support for his daughter during at least six months from June 2005 to May 2006. Judge Long bound the case over to circuit court for an Aug. 5 arraignment. Rex Monroe, 19, of Dixon, appeared with the public defender for a July 23 preliminary hearing on a Class D felony charge of damaging jail property accusing him of tearing a jail blanket and stuffing it in the toilet on Jan. 30. Prosecutors presented evidence; the defendant and his attorney presented no evidence. Judge Long found probable cause to believe Monroe may be guilty of a felony and bound the case over to circuit court for an Aug. 5 arraignment. Dennis M. Ray, 59, 49, of Waynesville, appeared with his attorney, Dennis Kinder, and waived a July 23 preliminary hearing on a Class B felony charge of manufacturing a controlled substance accusing him of knowingly manufacturing 1,215 grams of marijuana by growing or cultivating it on July 30, 2008. Judge Long bound the case over to circuit court for an Aug. 5 arraignment. Billy Dale Swiney, 67, of Dixon, appeared with the public defender for a July 23 preliminary hearing on a Class C felony charge of stealing by deceit accusing him of taking an orange 2007 Ford Mustang on Nov. 13, 2008, owned by Sellers-Sexton with the purpose to deprive the dealership by deceit by claiming that he was going to buy the vehicle. Prosecutors presented evidence; the defendant and his attorney presented no evidence. Judge Long found probable cause to believe Monroe may be guilty of a felony and bound the case over to circuit court for an Aug. 5 arraignment. James L. Thomas, 34, of St. Robert, appeared with the public defender for a July 23 preliminary hearing on a Class C felony charge of second-degree assault of a law enforcement officer accusing him of attempting to cause physical injury to a policeman by throwing a colostomy bag at him on May 24 containing bodily fluids of feces and urine. Prosecutors presented evidence; the defendant and his attorney presented no evidence. Judge Long found probable cause to believe Monroe may be guilty of a felony and bound the case over to circuit court for an Aug. 5 arraignment. Click here to comment for local opinion
