SAINT ROBERT, Mo. (Sept. 14, 2009) — Members of the Missouri Veterans Commission are asking all veterans for their help this fall in “listening posts” that will be held at locations across the state, including one on Monday, Sept. 28 in St. Robert.

The St. Robert listening post will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the St. Robert Community Center located at 114 J.H. Williamson Drive, which is off Old Route 66. While numerous other listening posts are scheduled around Missouri, none of the others are in the Fort Leonard Wood area.

The events will provide opportunities for veterans to address their needs and wants in confidence on topics including healthcare, long-term care and veterans benefits. They will also give veterans services providers a chance to educate their partners how they can work together to close gaps and increase services to veterans. That information will then be passed on for the governor’s review and consideration.

“This is a joint effort aimed at assessing the needs of Missouri’s veterans,” said Daniel Bell, public information officer for the Missouri Veterans Commission. “The more we know about what the needs and concerns of our veterans are by creating a dialogue with Missouri’s veterans, we will be able to more efficiently serve them and their families in the future.”

The listening posts run from Sept. 14 to Oct. 28 with the support of the American Legion, AMVETSs, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Vietnam Veterans and Marine Parents.

All those who have served in the military and their families are encouraged to attend. Those who want information on the event may visit the Missouri Veteran’s Commission website at www.mvc.dps.mo.gov.
