Margie Lou Steen

CROCKER, Mo. (June 2, 2014) — Margie Lou Steen, of Crocker, was born April 29, 1941, in Dixon, a daughter of George and Dorothy (Mitchell) Green, and departed this life Saturday, May 31, 2014, at her residence in Crocker surrounded by her family and friends. Margie had attained the age of 73 years, 1 month and 2 days.

Margie was first united in marriage to Roger York, who preceded her in death. She later married Wayne Steen who also preceded her in death. In addition to her husbands, Margie was preceded in death by one son, Derek York; one grandson, Elijah Steen; her parents; two brothers, George “Bill” Green and Freddie Green; and three sisters, Nora Twehous, Norma Atwell and Barbara Bowling.

Margie worked for nearly 30 years at Brown Shoe Company in Dixon and later for Delano Oil Company in Crocker. She enjoyed working in her yard, tending to her flowers, crocheting and hosting holiday gatherings for family and friends. Most of all Margie loved being a devoted mother, grandmother and friend and was diligent in providing for the needs of others.

Those left to mourn the passing of Margie include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Denise York, Crocker, Eddie and Sandra Steen, Springfield; one daughter, Tonya Steen, Lake Ozark; three brothers, Raymond (Kaye) Green, Kane, Ill., Ronnie (Kathy) Green, Montreal, John (Lisa) Green, Laquey; three sisters, Mary (Paul) Anderson, Crocker; Judy (Clarence) Wieners, Laquey and Paula Forrest, St. Robert; brother-in-law, Bob Atwell, California, Mo.; two sisters-in-law, Gwen Green and Linda Green, both of Laquey; ten grandchildren, Sara, Ashley, Erika, Jacob, Ethan, Olivia, Kyle, Elizabeth, Luke and Emily; four great-grandchildren, Kaelyn, Brayden, Chloe and Corban; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted for Margie at 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 3, 2014, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Crocker, with Bro. Bill Claiborn, Hilltop Christian Union Church, Crocker, officiating.

Interment was in the Dixon Cemetery under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Crocker. Pallbearers for Margie were Joe Leuthen, Don Miles, David Durrman, Clarence Wieners, Richard Ledbetter, and Stacey Green. Honorary pallbearers were Paul Anderson and Curt Atwell.

Memorial contributions are welcome per the wishes of the family with envelopes available at the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon.
