Laquey woman wrecks car in Saturday evening DWI crash, troopers report

Retha King wrecked her car Saturday evening on Highway NN east of Laquey in what state troopers say was a drunk driving crash.
LAQUEY, Mo. (July 13, 2009) — A Laquey woman faces charges of driving while intoxicated as a persistent offender following a Saturday evening rollover wreck that totaled her car, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.

Retha R. King, 48, was southbound on Highway NN about a half-mile east of Highway 17 near the corner of Seal Road driving a green and yellow striped 1996 Kia Sephia when, according to state patrol reports, she ran off the left side of the roadway at 7:25 p.m., went into the ditch and overturned. The car landed on its passenger side and King, who had been wearing her seat belt, suffered moderate injuries.

Troopers arrested King at 7:58 p.m. and released her to Pulaski County Ambulance District personnel, but King refused treatment.

Waynesville firefighters and Pulaski County sheriff’s deputies also responded to the crash scene.
