House now on fire at Fort Leonard Wood; civilian firefighters helping

FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. (April 2, 2010) — Public affairs personnel have confirmed that a house is currently on fire at Fort Leonard Wood.

According to preliminary reports from civilian agencies, Fort Leonard Wood firefighters are trying to extinguish an active structure fire at 29 McKenzie Street on post that began prior to 1 p.m. Friday. St. Robert firefighters have been paged to assist with an engine to cover smoke in the attic of an adjoining home at 30 McKenzie Drive.

Waynesville firefighters have been called to handle any additional calls in the St. Robert city limits while the St. Robert fire crew is on Fort Leonard Wood.

No additional information was immediately available on the fire.
