Fort Leonard Wood resident wrecks vehicle early Monday near Springfield

FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. (July 20, 2009) — An early Monday morning crash in Springfield totaled a Fort Leonard Wood man’s car and sent him to a hospital with minor injuries.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol reports, Corey L. Murray, 21, was eastbound in a 1984 Toyota at 3:15 a.m. on Interstate 44 about a mile west of Springfield when he ran off the roadway and struck the median cable. Murray, who had been wearing his seat belt, was transported to St. John’s Hospital in Springfield for treatment.

His vehicle was removed by Terry’s Wrecker of Springfield.

In unrelated incidents, state troopers made three recent arrests in the area:

• Robert B. Allen, 66, of Rolla, was arrested by troopers at 7:55 p.m. Thursday on charges of driving while intoxicated and careless and imprudent driving resulting in a non-injury crash. Troopers transported him to the Pulaski County Jail where he was subsequently released.

• Virgil E. Smith, 50, of Dixon, was arrested by troopers at 6:15 p.m. Friday in Phelps County on a Rolla municipal warrant for failure to appear on a prior charge of driving while his license was revoked and for having no operator’s license. Troopers transported him to the Phelps County Jail where he was eligible for bond.

• Eric E. Wilson, 35, of Lebanon, was arrested at 2:25 a.m. Sunday on charges of driving while intoxicated and not having a valid license. Troopers transported him to the Pulaski County Jail and subsequently released.
