FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. (Dec. 9, 2009) — The Maneuver Support Center (MANSCEN) and Fort Leonard Wood, in conjunction with the Fort Leonard Wood Lions Club, will hold a St. Nick’s Benefit ceremony on Dec. 15 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Grant Hall, building 2100. Now in its 29th year of operation, the purpose the Lions Club program is to provide gifts to less fortunate children and special needs adults from Fort Leonard Wood and the surrounding communities.

It is anticipated that over 800 gifts will be presented. The Boys and Girls Town Choir of St. James and the 399th Army Band are scheduled to provide entertainment during the ceremony.

“The Fort Leonard Wood Lions Club is proud to sponsor this event,” said event organizer Lisa Clinton. “This program provides a helping hand to those who might otherwise not have a good Christmas, and we could not be successful without the generous support of the local community both on and off post.”

Gift donations are still being accepted for this event. Gifts in the price range of $30 to $50 may be dropped off on Fort Leonard Wood at the Army Community Service building 486 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. For those who are short on time, tax deductible donations are also appropriate, and the Lions Club will do the shopping.

Those who want to obtain more information about sponsoring a child or special needs adult may call Lisa at (573) 465-0977 or James at (573) 596-0212.
