PULASKI COUNTY, Mo. (Dec. 29, 2010) — Staff Sgt. Gloria Harrison will be honored at the January meeting of the Committee of Fifty for her work as a member of the Air Force Detachment at Fort Leonard Wood, organizational officials announced Wednesday.

Harrison, a Miami native who now lives in St. Robert, is a unit training and education manager in the 366th Training Squadron, Detachment 7. Married with two children, she has served in the Air Force since 2004 and has been at Fort Leonard Wood since October 2007. This is her second duty station following basic training; her initial assignment was at the 354th Civil Engineer Squadron at Eielson Air Force Base in Alaska.
Her goals include making E6 on her first time testing and completing the last two classes required for her bachelors degree, for which she has earned 117 semester hours toward a bachelor of science in occupational education. She already holds two associates degrees, one in emergency management which she received in December 2007 and the other as an instructor of technology and military studies which she received in January 2009. Long-term, she hopes to receive an MBA and to “raise my son and daughter right and give them a happy childhood” along with her husband, James Harrison.
Harrison completed basic training in May 2004, with subsequent military education including the emergency management apprentice course in September 2004, the basic instructor course in February 2008, airman leadership school in December 2008, and the emergency mangement craftsman course in July 2010. She’s earned both Air Force and Army commendation medals, an Army Achievement Medal, and an Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, along with a Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Air Force Overseas Ribbon Long, Air Force Longevity Service, Air Force NCO Professional Military Education Graduate Ribbon, and Air Force Training Ribbon.
Harrison’s hobbies in her free time include swimming, bicycling and reading.
