Missouri Department of Transportation personnel have issued several road work alerts for the Fort Leonard Wood area. As with all road construction projects, MoDOT officials urge drivers to exercise caution while passing through the work zones. Workers may be on or near the roadway. Signs will be posted and flagmen will be present in areas where traffic will be impacted. Those who want more information may contact the Missouri Department of Transportation customer service number at (888) ASK-MODOt, or (888) 275-6636.
In Miller County on Highway 17 between Highway 42 and Highway 52, roadway resurfacing and widening of shoulders continues. One lane is open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area. The project is scheduled for completion in July.
Routes E and W near Highway 28:
In Maries County on Route E, roadway maintenance will take place on Monday, June 23. The Maries County Route W work will take place Monday, June 23 through Thursday, June 26. In both cases, work runs between Highway 28 and the end of state maintenance. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.
In Laclede County on Route U between Route 17 and Route 32, roadway maintenance will take place Monday, June 30 through Wednesday, July 2. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.
BNSF Bridge on Route D:
Bridge replacement on Route D over the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad in Jerome began the week of May 12. The bridge will be closed during the work. Detours will be in place. The project is scheduled for completion in September.
Fort Leonard Wood
According to the U.S. Army Fort Leonard Wood Directorate of Public Works Planning Division, "the north section of MP Drive, from Nebraska Avenue to the Foster Lodge parking lot, as well as Michigan Avenue, between both sections of MP Drive, will be closed to all traffic from April 9, 2014, to Sept 2015, in support of construction of the new lodging facility on post. Detour signs will be posted. This schedule is subject to change."
