BUCKHORN, Mo. (Oct. 27, 2008) — This year’s charitable event went off once again with record crowds. Fun was had by people of all ages. There were monsters, witches, vampires, and more running amuck throughout the property. The screeching screams were heard throughout the valley. Fear and excitement was seen on the faces of the public from start to finish.

This event is sponsored by the FORR Local 28, and the Pulaski County Fort Leonard Wood Shrine Club. Additional Participants of this event include the FORR Local 31 Rolla, Shrine Wives, and the Shrine Kitchen Crew. Local 28, and Mark Twain React assisted with running the tractors for the hay rides. Mark Twain react also handles the parking for this event each year. A total of about 70 volunteers helped to make this year’s event a great success.

This year’s event brought in a total of $2911.00. This was $400.00 more than last year’s total. Wal-Mart will match the funds raised, thus making the total donation to the Shriners St. Louis Cripple Children’s Hospital over $5,800.00 for this event.

The volunteers at the event served approximately 1500 hotdogs and sodas. They also handed out over $500 in candy. The candy is donated by people and businesses from the Pulaski County area. They appreciate all the donations and everyone who came out to support this event. They look forward to continuing the tradition of the Haunting of Buckhorn for many years to come.
